FAQ

When to go
Warm seawater temperature is another great draw to Thailand. Khanom’s sea stays pretty constant throughout the year at a very comfortable 29°C. Air temperatures average at about 28°C and although it gets a few degrees hotter in the summer and a few colder in the winter, there’s not a great deal of change throughout the year. Whilst the best time to visit Khanom is generally known to be during the dry season (from mid-December through till April) it’s actually an all-year-round holiday spot. From halfway through September until the middle of December is the rainy season, but as many travellers who disregard this warning find, it only rains for a short but heavy burst before returning to being dry again. After this usually only hour-long downpour the air loses that thick humidity that’s associated with tropical countries and becomes fresher, which is why many see it as a plus-point.

Location
When you just need to get away from it all, this is the perfect place for you. Located in Khanom, a country town on the western side of the Gulf of Thailand, this is one of Thailand’s last undiscovered tourist areas. Surrounded by quiet beaches, caves and waterfalls this is the perfect destination for anyone who is looking for a quiet holiday, off the regular tourist track. Well situated for those who want to relax and escape the crowds, Khanom is also known for its rare pink dolphins. For the adventurous, we highly recommend the guided 4km trek to the largest waterfall in southern Thailand, Krung Ching, and the chance to experience the astonishing flora and fauna of the Khao Luang National Park.  On another day, embark you on a guided kayaking expedition down the river and enjoy the many sights and sounds of the majestic mangrove forest.

The Superior Bungalows are slightly larger than the Deluxe Bungalows. The Poolside Villas have direct access into the main swimming pool and are situated right on the beach front. The Family Villas feature two bedrooms making them ideal for families.

Khanom: a gem off the beaten track

Khanom is the ultimate destination for relaxation. This quiet, beachside town is located in the Nakhon Si Thammarat province on the Gulf of Thailand. Its enticing neighbors, Koh Phangan and Koh Samui, lure the crowds and tourists away from this sleepy coastal area, making it the perfect place to unwind.

Short introduction

Khanom is a little town and a district of about 30.000 people. It sits right on the Gulf of Thailand coast. Since the houses are spread all over the place among rice fields and palm plantations, the town feels more like a village. There is only the crossroad in the center (known to everyone as siyek, the Thai word for crossroad) which looks somehow urban. The locals are mostly into agriculture and fishing. If you drive around you will see rubber trees plantation, coconut trees, rice paddies, oil palm trees. Part of Khanom district is Ban Peng, a little village where almost 100% of the population is into the fishing business, the village is set on the Khanom river banks, a place where you can admire the beautiful colorful fishing boats going up and down to and from the sea.

Why Khanom

Overlooked by tourists who flock to the jungle islands nearby, this pristine region, simply called Khanom, is a worthy choice for those seeking a serene beach setting unmarred by enterprising corporations. The waters are free of jet skis to protect the local pink dolphins, making the region quiet and undisturbed. Tours whisk visitors off to view the dolphins in their natural environment.
